The Company
Our client is a specialist engineering and sustainability consultancy with an established track record in mechanical engineering, building physics, and high-performance built environments. The firm has already been successfully delivering projects in the Middle East and is now investing further in the region by appointing its first full-time, on-the-ground commercial leader.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, high-impact role for an experienced business development professional with a formal mechanical engineering background. The successful candidate will take ownership of expanding and formalising the company’s Middle East presence, building on existing client relationships and project success, while driving new opportunities across the region.
This role offers a genuine opportunity to step into a broader regional leadership position, with visibility at the most senior levels of the business and the mandate to shape long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
Build on existing client relationships and project wins to expand the business across the Middle East
Identify priority sectors, clients, and growth opportunities, informed by market, sustainability, and competitor trends
Own the regional sales pipeline, driving lead generation through networks, referrals, and targeted engagement
Develop and execute commercial strategies to achieve agreed revenue targets
Act as the senior commercial representative in the region, managing key client and partner relationships
Lead the preparation of technical and commercial proposals and manage negotiations through to contract award
Provide clear pipeline, performance, and market insight to senior leadership
Support the development of a small regional business development team as the business scales
Ideal Candidate Background
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
Minimum 10 years’ experience in business development, sales, or commercial leadership
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, building physics, and sustainability-led solutions
Proven experience growing business in complex, relationship-driven markets
Ability to engage credibly in technical and commercial discussions
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Strategic, self-motivated, and comfortable operating independently
Preferred
Experience in sustainability, energy efficiency, or environmental consultancy
Prior exposure to the Middle East market
Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams
